antifreeze from exhaust manifold bolt?

i have a 350 4bbl carb, i saw oil leaking from the front passenger side manifold bolt (the one that the smog stuff bolts to, its the closest to the alternator) and i decided to pull it, and as it was coming out antifreeze started gushing out of it? is this normal for the exhaust manifold bolt to hold back water?

It's not "normal", but not unheard of. I had it happen with some World heads when I used 1" instead of 3/4" header bolts.

Re: antifreeze from exhaust manifold bolt?

Sorry, no it is not supposed to do that. Water coming from those bolt holes means you have punctured the water jacket. A decent machine shop ought to be able to repair it though.

Put some sealant on it and put the bolt back in. If it doesnt leak you are fine.

With some sealant it should seal just as well as the intake manifold bolts I should think. Should be fine.

Still running the heads. I put a glob of silicone into the bolt hole, coated the header bolt threads with sealant. Works fine.
