rear main seal
I was just wondering if any harm would be done if i applied a small dab of rtv where the seal halves mate (not the bearing cap to block surfaces
, the directions state you should apply rtv to the outside of the block recess, but doesnt say anything about the parting lines of the seal-I just worry about leaving it dry and having a leak. please clear this up for me, where should I put RTV, and where should I not

Re: rear main seal
It was my understanding that you were supposed to add sealant to the seal halves. I believe my manual told me to use an anaerobic sealant.

Re: rear main seal
okay, thanks guys,
I put the seal in tonight with some rtv around the outside and a bit on the halves, as well as offset the seal, so fingers crossed it will seal!
