Try giving us some real information perhaps? What kind of intake does it have? Carb, TBI, TPI? How about a block casting number off the side of the block, that would help quite a bit.

What u don't like being called out? with all do respect if u would read my post carefully u would realize I asked for block #'s.. Just another G.M> lover...... As posted prior---- VIN code -E-======305tbi( I assumed u would know, my bad!) starter only matches up to a 350 (ripped her out and got new) Was i foolish to think GM guys could help out on some specs....... THAT IS WHY I AM ASKING FOR BLOCK CODES TO IDENTIFY. Didn't mean to **** anyone off.... sorry if u took me took me to seriously!

If you believe the 305 tbi is no longer with your car and you think it is something else, what good would us providing a 305 block casting number be? Provide us with the block casting number you DO have, and we can help you. I won't do your work for you.

Wasn't pissed, still not pissed, I know E is the vin code for a 305tbi, that's what my car is. By your reply it seems like your the one getting pissed, not helping your situation! It took less than hour from your original post for you to start making negative posts, think about it!
Try doing a search at the top, you'll probably find an answer in previous posts or you can just wait and hope someone answers the question for you, your choice.

Why would you "call out" someone you need help from?
There are many different starters for a SBC, so you need to give more specific info... what is the starter bolt pattern on the block (staggered or straight)? What size flexplate (how many teeth)? What transmission is bolted up to said motor?
All of these play a part. If you can tell what trans you have (specifically - like TH350, TH400, 700R4, etc) then we can probably figure out what flexplate you have from that.

There is a long(7-10 digit) identification number on the rear of the block on the drivers side, assuming its an SBC that you have under there!
