350 rebuild

Hey guys ....im sure u get alot of this but im having trouble finding some decent info on what i should do.

I recently picked up a 350 ..i looked up the serial # and it came from a 69 to 79 corvette not sure which year tho it was in a friends garage for years (2 bolt main)
Anyway i am thinking going 383....me and a buddie did some playing around with a engine program and managed to come up with 460 hp and 480 ftlbs
with 10.5 to 1 compression..these are the parts that we used to get the numbers i just wanna know what some of u much more experenced people think..Will this work ...do i need to worry about blowing this engine up ...i am also planning on replacing the transmission with a Tko 500...anyway please let me know what u guys think Be as crititcal as possible ... iknow the cam is rogh idle and i may end up changing that out ...anyways i will apprecate any info thanks!

Re: 350 rebuild

Your buddy is stuck in the stone ages, with those outdated heads and cam. You can do much better. For the same money. Heads: The sportsman 2s were good in the late '80s, before we had any good choices, but these days, the bang-for-the-buck in iron heads is either RHS -Racing Head Service, or EQ -EngineQuest. Better short-turn, better combustion chambers. The tech in that cam is even older. Step up to something like COMP CAMS' Thumpr or Extreme Energy lines. An XE274 will far surpass that old Torker grind. Top with an Edelbrock RPM AirGap intake and a Holley 770-cfm carb. 480+ horses, no problem.

just for the record what you have is a 2 bolt main. 350's came in 2 bolt and 4 bolt main variates. 2 bolt mains have 1 bolt one each side of the crankshaft. a 4 bolt setup has 2 bolts on each side of the crankshaft. there is no such thing as a 1 bolt engine
