<<Vortec engine questions....>>
Ok, did a search and there was too much info!!
I have a simple question: What are the differences between the 97 Chevy truck Vortec engines and the L98 engines? i know the heads are different and will require a new Base to use my TPI stuff and I know the serpentine brackets will not work, but is everything else in the right place?
Thanks!!!

Re: <<Vortec engine questions....>>
I suppose I should clarify a few things: The car I am thinking of putting it in is an '86 IROC, and the engine in question is a 350 Vortec from a 97 Chevy tahoe.

Summit Racing or Jegs will have it. Edelbrock makes them. Usually about $470 or so.

Ok, I guess I will modify this a bit and ask: Who makes TPI bases for vortec heads and which is the best one?

And what about a roller cam? Something kind of radical, but still streetable.

Re: <<Vortec engine questions....>>
Ok, the only thing I am missing is the cam... I want to stay with a lift the stock heads will handle without any machine work. (I'm not opposed to changing the springs, though.)
Thanks!

I'm thinking about doing this but just using the stock vortec stuff. My car is a TBI though so I don't have anything worthwhile to swap over.

Re: <<Vortec engine questions....>>
Check out the thread I just posted. Im running a 97 vortec motor in my 88. I just installed a LT4 Hotcam. I was able to do get by with the lift problems without pulling the heads. I love that cam. I however am running a carb, so you will have to retune your computer for the new cam.
If you want to keep with the TPI, go with the Edelbrock IMO
