engine misses when first started
I have a 86 iroc 355 w/ carb, edelbrock rpm performer intake, fuelie heads, comp cams extreme enegy cam. when i start the car for the first time of the day, it is running on only 6 or 7 cylinders. it will do this all day, the only way i can get it to clear up is to floor it for about 6-8 seconds. it will run perfect the rest of the day. im thinking the plugs get something on them causing them not to fire until i floor it. if i change them, the car doesnt miss when i start it until a few days later. i first thought the carb, but i swapped carbs, still does it. have good fuel pressure. any suggestion are greatly appreciated.

How many miles on the engine? What is your oil pressure?

i would take the plugs out and take a air gun and shoot out all the spots where the plugs were you might have like little tiny leave peices in there which can be doing that also check your rotor dist and plug wires

there is about 4000 miles on the rebuilt engine. i dont know how many the heads have on them or how new the parts on the heads are. the cam and intake were new when i put them on. the oil pressure is good, 20 at idle 40-60 while driving

I am wondering about the lifters.
If the heads have really strong springs, it can cause the lifters to bleed off while sitting over night and keep them from pumping up at an idle.
Just a thought...

i realized when i change the spark plugs, the engine doesnt miss when i start it until after a few days. then i have to start flooring it again to make it run right.
