Smoke from Pass side rocker cover

Dunno if anyone can give me any pointers on this but I've noticed that after a fast run, when I come to a stop there is a intermittent puff of smoke from the passenger side rocker cover area in the region of the breather.

I think the rocker cover gasket may be leaking as with the engine hot and running, when you stand and watch its almost something is dripping onto the exhaust every 4-5 seconds as there is a puff of smoke, then its ok for a few secs.

At first I thought the crankcase was getting pressurised by blow-by from the rings, but when I take the filler cap off the drivers side, there is absolutely no pressure or chuffing.

The breather in the pass side (that goes to the air filter) isn't blocked and was completely clear when I took it off, it was a very loose fit in the rocker cover grommet though.

The car is a 87 5.0 with carb and no pcv (that I know of). Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Smoke from Pass side rocker cover

Well, smoking seems to have stopped for now anyway. Obviously I'm the only one that gets this.....

I seem to be the only one rading this thread, but just in case anyone else has these symptoms, see the end of this thread:
