Torque on main caps and what fluid to use on threads?
Did my search. I am kinda surprised that I could not find the answer to the above when I searched for "MAIN CAPS TORQUE".
So, what torque to use, its a 4 bolt mains,,, and what fluid should I use on the threads? red loctite (high strength), blue (medium strength), oil, nothing.

oil or ARP moly lube or some type of lube on the threads. NOT LOCTITE !
65ft lbs. 60 on the shorter ones IIRC. The amount of error in your torque wrench makes more of a difference then the 5ftlbs anyway so...

Thank you for the reply. I have several engine build books, however, since my relocation to Florida, these books are missing in action. I got to find these books soon.

just a couple drops of oil dont soak them also i chase all the threads and blow them out
so that they are clean and dirt rust free, some chem baths and time open dirt and debree can get in as well as liquids chase blow out and lube the threads on the boolts will help also with the torqueing as well
