Need a smaller starter

Putting true dual exhaust on my 1992 Roadmaster Sedan (TBI 350) L05 using LT1 exhaust manifolds and catayltic converters. One of the studs on the passengers side is hitting the starter solenoid.

Is there a smaller starter that I can use to fix this issue.

The only other thought I had was to take the starter off, install the cat and cut the extra length of the stud off and then reinstall the starter.

Thanks

Re: Need a smaller starter

What number of teeth would my flexplate have? 153 or 168? I have been searching on it, but got myself confused. It is the stock flexplate for a L05 TBI 350

Thanks again.

Re: Need a smaller starter

You're lucky. I use one of these and I need to pull my headers off to get the starter bolts out. One of the header tubes is dented to clear a starter bolt.

So from the picture above I am assuming that a starter with inline bolt holes will work? This will be for a 1992 Chevy TBI 350 (L05). The original starter has bolt holes that are offset , but it looks like there is an extra hole that could be used in the case of a starter with inline bolts holes. If you guys could let me know ASAP that would be great so that I can order it from summit today.

Thanks!!!!
