Yeah, the alternator bolts into three places, the two on the bracket, and then the brace that runs from the back of the alt to the exhaust manifold.

Re: amnesia?

Hmmmm.

So that's why when I went to headers, & tried to bolt that brace
onto the intake manifold, it interfeared w/ the radiator hose.
But after torch, vise, & new paint, it looks like it actually
belongs there.

God, I love this place...

Re: amnesia?

ok , so there is one bolt on support that goes from the exhaust manifold to the back of the alternator , and two star bolts in the front . one of them is on the left fron side behind the upper radiator hose support , now my question is , in the back of the alt. on the laft hand side , is there supposed to be another support bar and then a nut , or just a nut by itself , since the star bolt will not tighten all the way , so im think it needs a nut in the back btw 885speed , do you think you think you could post up a pick of how your alt. is bolted down ?

Re: amnesia?

When you say on the left, I'm going to think closer to the passenger side. And if its on the opposite side of the brace in the back then no, that is your main power hook-up.

Re: amnesia?

ok , so i have 4 bolt on "straps" or what ever you wanna call em , i knwo that 2 of them go ont the left side on the engine and bolt onto the smog pump and a/c compresor bracket, so how many of these "strapst" are there on the alt. , as far as i know there is one that goes on the back , and that is the one that goes from the exhaust manifold to the back of the alt . that leaves me with one strap , is there another one that goes on the alt. ? possibly another one on the left side of the alt , as shown on your pic "the top view of your alt."

Ok, that last one you speak of, its for the power steering pump.
It bolts onto the same bolt that the alt brace goes on.
look closely at the full size picture of the top view I posted, you will see it going to the back of the PS pump.

Open the picture in a new window/tab in your browser so you can see it full sized.
