oil leak help.. what is this and why is it leaking??

Hey.. i've been chasing an oil leak for a while and finallly found what was leaking oil.. turns out it wasn't the oil pan or the oil pressure gauge; it was a sensor of some sort above the oil filter. what is this and why would it be leaking oil? When I noticed it was coming from that, there were droplets of oil on it, oil below it, and dry metal above it. whats it called so I can replace it? thanks! (sorry for the poor picture quality)

oil pressure sensor i believe. its cheap, DONT go with Autozone (autosuck) go napa, a/c delco. try even tightening it. i tells the Fuel pump to pump, with you disconnected it. your car wouldnt run. its a saftey sensor. in case someone flips the car, engine stops but the fuel line bursts and sets the car on fire. Im on a highway to hell, -ac dc.

i'm not certain tightening it would do any good.. it appears to be coming from between the metal body and plastic sensor housing. I will swing by the gm dealer and pick up an acdelco. thank you

the stealership? if you do, be cool with the parts guy. dont call him bro or anything, just be cool, and talk about the babes in town. then ask for a discount. IF you lucky, can get it for 20%+ cheaper. just gotta chill. its a head game. i once got a PRom over the phone at a stealership, at StEALER price. just got be cool.

thats the oil pressure switch for the fuel pump if your fuel pump relay dies it senses oil pressure and kicks on the fuel pump so you don't get stranded any where just make sure when you order it it has a square 4 plug connector

This... it's not really a safety thing - it's a redundancy thing.

What is the part number for this sensor? Is it the same for an 88 as well?
