Hello everyone i hope someone here can help me. I have an 89' Camaro RS V6 and the motor continues to shut off on me whenever i am stopping at redlights or stop signs randomly, it does not do it every time, but it does do it enough to be very frustrating. The car restarts right back up. What could be causing this!?!?! The guy i bought it from said a mechanic quoted him a couple hundred bucks to replace a sensor that was causing the motor to turn off...anyone know what sensor this could be or if its even the cause?

could be tps... ignition system...

 

Or the IAC valve (if you have one). My dd Falcon has been doing this same behaviour for a couple of weeks; pulling the the IAC and shooting it with carb cleaner + WD40 gets it reliable for another few days... time to replace I guess

 

also check your wiring... its useless change pieces if the problem is there...

 

Sorry, I meant its time for me to change mine - just saying OP should clean his out first, see if that helps. Could be a lot of things.
