Eagle ESP cranks, better than stock?
I was looking at getting one of these cranks for a decent price and upgrading my rods too. I am shooting for 570-580hp at the crank, shifting at 7k. Pistons are KB 147's. I was wondering if it be worth upgrading the crank. I have heard different stories about how much stock parts can take.
The ESP cranks are cast steel. What are "stock" crankshafts made out of?
Thanks for any input.
Jason

Forged steel in Hi-Po apps (ZZ4)
If you are looking at those #'s ;better invest in a forged crank.
Cast steel cranks are rated 450-500Hp at lower revs depending on who you believe

your stock crank will out perform your tires, axles, wheel studs, u-joints, and driving ability. i'm pushing 600hp through mine and broke lots of "other" parts. sometimes lighter parts can be better even though it's not stronger... something to think about...

A stock cast crank goes a surprisingly long way as long as you don't rev the snot out of it.

I "think" i will be ok with the stock crank and KB pistons, I think they are suppose to be lighter. The rods are the only thing I am worried about. But people go stupid fast on stock parts.
I ended up going with a bigger cam than I originally planned. I will be shifting at 7k. Yikes!
