roller cams are expensive, you might find a used cam on ebay or on forums here. maybe a used lt1 cam would work good in your car if it's close to stock.

Re: what cam do i need?

they might make a taller flat tappet, but not likely. The boss that holds the lifter I believe is taller....besides going flat tappet would be a step backwards. You wouldn't feel that much power gain from doing a small cam swap anyway, and maybe nothing at all. not worth the waste of money, you're better off to spend the money on something else, like exhaust. Furthermore the cam has to be computer compatible....and that would be just a bad idea to go flat tappet. spend money on something that will make a difference.

Re: what cam do i need?

im gunna be running a carb on it so i wouldnt have to worry about computer. i just wanna throw a cam in now while i have the engine apart. but maybe it doesnt have a roller in it now. i was researching and it looks like the roller ones had a plate in the center going to the lifters. mine doesnt. just the mounts for it. is it not a roller?

Re: what cam do i need?

Your engine must have come from a truck. Starting in 1986 some truck engines did not have roller cams but cars did. Trucks engines got them later. Either way you are set.
