Re: thoughts welcome

They will use old style valve covers and likely old style intake bolt pattern. i recommend a roller cam to get the best performance.

Re: thoughts welcome

how different is the bolt pattern? and is it hard to change it? would this motor already have roller lifters or would it be flat tappet? thanks

Re: thoughts welcome

im not sure if it would be roller. see what the engine rpo code is. the bolt holes in your stock heads are at a different angle. you would need to modify the intake

Re: thoughts welcome

so to mod the intake would that just involve drilling new holes? or could i just reangle the current holes?

Re: thoughts welcome

the easiest thing to do would be to get a 85 corvette (they didn't make corvettes for one year, i dont think it was 85) lower intake. another problem i just remembered that i had was the intake ports in the head may be taller than your intake rendering everything useless. thats the problem i ran into and thats why my 84 has a carburetor on it instead of the tuneport. if you still want tune port it will be easier to go with L98 heads.

Re: thoughts welcome

ok they didn't make corvettes for 1983 model/year. just find out the intake port dimensions. they need to be about 2" tall. you can elongate those holes with a drimmel type tool. just make sure you have enough room for the head of the bolt.

Re: thoughts welcome

just call rhs, or dart, or world or look on their websites and get the port dimensions. they cannot be taller than 2 inches. mock up the engine, if you can't get those bolt holes aligned, you'll need to get the lower intake. i had found some threads on porting the tune port intake, you'll need to do that to benefit from those heads. i highly recommend the dart iron heads.

Re: thoughts welcome

looks like the 10110010-10220010 will work. they even have enough meat for port matching. these heads are very heavy, but the good thing about that is you can port them as much as you want or angle mill. so as you make more and more power you can just keep porting the heads, really the last set of heads you'll ever have to buy. unlike a vortec head which is so thin porting wouldn't be a good idea.
