Oil pressure sending unit or switch, or a pipe plug if you don't use one there.

You'll need whatever's required for whatever gauge you use.

Yes as long as you've always got something plugging that hole you can put whatever you want in there any time.

Re: [[Quick Question: Hole in back of Block?]]

Be sure to use a non-hardening sealer on the plug/fitting threads. NO teflon tape.

Also note that it is funny as all get out' when some one forgets to plug the hole. When the prime tool starts to move oil it looks like an oil well was just un-capped. And of course the person doing the priming ends up wearing a bunch of that oil. Seen that done, laughed so hard I thought I cracked a rib.

Better yet when someone does it without priming. If the oil pump moves an impressive amount of oil when a drill is driving it, imagine when it's running at speed.

Make sure no trash fell/falls down into that oil passage.

I prefer to use brass or stainless plugs to avoid chance of seizing.
People have their favorites, but I prefer the orange/red high-temp RTV as sealer.

By the way your engine pic is blinding.
