My 89 Trans Am gets hot and shuts off...no good

I start it up, the timing chain needs to be replaced and i never get it above 3000. It has a rough start til it warms up after about five minutes. It then starts to get hot and shuts off. I just got the car a couple days ago, alot of info about it under different thread. The 350 got swapped in from a 305, i dont know if they didnt connect all the sensors back up or backwards or if they are bad, or even whats wrong at this point. If you have any ideas or tips that would be great. Thank you.

is this a tpi? if so check the codes, also could be a problem in the distributor or injectors
