Lack of power
I have a 92 305 TBI, everything seems good except when I I get into 2nd or 3rd gear (auto Trans) the rpm will stick for a second and drop to 1500 at an even amount of pressure on the gas. But when I give it more gas it will become unstuck and jump right back up.. it makes a sound of idle when it drops down, to me it sounds like a fuel issue?? ...( i just bought the car about 2 weeks ago)

Re: Lack of power
sounds more like a tranny issue, well more of a sensor issue, if its getting a false input from somewhere it can in turn affect the fuel, bad input is bad output

Re: Lack of power
Its funny u mention that, im was thinking there may be an electrical problem, I cant find my milti meter right now to check but the fan does not wrok...I put a new relay in it and also a new coolant temp. switch and notthing... but it will only work with the A/C on so the fan is not bad

Re: Lack of power
i had the same issue, i couldnt for the life of me get my fan to cycle on its own i replaced everything so i just set my ac to max since my system doesnt work anyway, i just got a relay setup with a c/b and wired it to a switch so i could cycle it whenever i waqnted and cool down the car after i shut it off by hooking up a timer to it, worked for a while but my battery fried and the wire goin to the c/b went with it lol

Re: Lack of power
damn, thats not good to hear for me, But Im still leaning toward a throttle body problem or possibly a Valve problem (I hope not cross my fingers) will it basically be a process of elimination to find why the RPMs drop to exactly 1500 rpm and car sounds idle like, like I said when I open it up more the needle will jump right back. what sensors u thinking about?

Re: Lack of power
After the shift into 3rd, if you mash the gas does the engine rev higher than the increase in speed?

Re: Lack of power
No, it never revs. higher than the speed, it shifts gears fine, i made a mistake when I said it makes an idle sound when It drops its more of a putter sound and the car maintains its speed.
