what is this little unit, the line runs to the throttle body?? and whats the sphere bolted to the body underneath it?

Cruise control. As for the sphere below it, I am unsure what you are talking about so I cannot speculate.

I'm pretty sure that the "sphere" might mean the vaccuum accumulater ball located under a short horizontal forward part of the inner fender panel.
Vaccuum lines run from the engine into the ball where it can store up a greater "volume" of vaccuum, and then out of it, to run different things on the car such as the air conditioner/heater/defroster air flow doors up under the dash, and other things. I think cruise control is run by vaccuum too.

so would it really do any harm to take it outa there? probably no harm leaving it there, just more crap though

Take which out?

Cruise control, your choice.

Vacuum ball - I'd leave - without it your HVAC controls are not going to work well, will take a long time for vent positions to change, etc. If you do, realize that you need to plug the line or else you have a vacuum leak.

No
Just have to rework the vac lines so you still have vac going inside otherwise you will not be able to change heater vent positions

think im just gunna leave it, glad GM at least hid it under there!

also another quick Q if u guys might know, those 2 brackets on the front of the engine that hold all the acsessorys and alternator ect, can you pick them up off of GM trucks aroudn that year or anything?

I believe that is a fuel surge cannister to trap excess fuel.
