How To Seal Engine During Teardown?
In a few weeks, I'm going to be tearing the intake on my LB9 to bolt up my lingenfelter manifold. Since this car is now my project car and no longer my DD, I don't have to worry about time constraints. It will take me a week or two in between the rest of my schedule to port match everything to each other. Since I don't have a garage to keep the car in I obviously don't want to leave the lifter valley exposed for this long so what I plan is to remove the plenum, runners, distributor and fuel system, basically everything except for the manifold base to keep the lifter valley sealed. During this time I will be performing port matching and polishing, and have a few fuel system components I would like to give a facelift to.
When everything is done I will swap the manifold base out within a single day, but in the meantime my question is what is the proper way to seal off the exposed distributor hole/intake ports? Paper towel and duct tape (Yeeeeah that sounds reeeeeeal ghetto fabulous which is why I'm asking)?
Also, do you guys think I will see an imporvement from the upgraded manifold? I know the heads will still be holding her back, but I should notice something right?

I'd get a big black garbage bag, and tape it in place. This will keep the water away. I'd make sure everything is still oiled (ie, don't scrub anything with brake-kleen then leave it exposed to the elements for a few weeks eh?)
