Upper Portion of Motor Mount...HELP...
so i replaced the rubber inserts on the motor mounts on my 83 camaro and not the upper motor mounts dont bolt on any more...the upper motor mounts came off a different car and they did mount on 2 the old beat up rubber inserts...
so wat do i do?...
do i need the upper motor mounts from an fbody?...
does anyone have sum of this layin around that i can buy off?...will pay asap..
help plz...

If you just replaced the inserts, did you install them so the metal tabs that run through the insert were sticking out the same direction as the old ones? If you have them backwards those metal tabs will catch on the engine mount before it gets low enough for the bolt holes to line up. If I remember right when the mounts are bolted to the K member, those metal tabs should go straight up and down when looking at it from the front.

yes i put the rubber inserts the same way the old ones came off...they r off about 1/8 of an inch off...:/...

You have to besure to lower the engine evenly onto both mounts at the same time. If you drop onto one, the other wont line up. They will be tight on the new rubber.

yes i did that...one side will go in but the other doesn't...its off about 1/8 or a lil more...:/..i think i need the fbodyupper motor mount...the one i have came off a M.C...

I swear they're the same. Ive done engine swaps in Montes a few times and in 3rd gens several times. If there was a difference, I never noticed it. Try Hawk's 3rd gen for the part# and compare it, or go to NAPA, or the junk yard. I swear Ive dealt with this and the mounts are just tight.

ok thanks yea it might b that they r tight...i just bought ordered sum so ill find out...i hope ur right and prove me wrong so i kno in the future...but thanks...
