Interesting Oil Pressure

Something that I have noticed with my new motor is that when I shut it off I can watch the oil pressure gage slowly come down to zero. Maybe it takes 5 seconds for it to reach zero from around 45 pounds at idle. I have never noticed this on any of my other motors. By the way I have the new Dart SHP block with priority main oiling if that might matter. The motor was broken in on and engine dyno and was taken up to 6800 rpm under load so I know the oiling is just fine.

Re: Interesting Oil Pressure

i can only assume that you have a direct reading oil press. gauge . if so i don't see any problem . good luck .

Re: Interesting Oil Pressure

Power to the sender is off when you turn the key off, so it's not reading oil pressure. You're just seeing the gauge drift to a rest position.

I've never noticed that happening, maybe I have just not looked.

So... got a date with a dyno soon?

Re: Interesting Oil Pressure

Dyno looks like some time in November. We have a number of cars ready to go so it might take two Saturdays.
