What the heck is this?
What the heck is this?
Removing the small hose released some pressure, and i notice it as some sort of moving diaphragm that connects in some form to the throttle.
What is it, what does it do, and where the heck to those two hoses coming out of it lead?

Man, that is your cruise control diaphragm. It runs of the engine vaccum.

Re: What the heck is this?
And it most certainly connects to your throttle linkage.
Re: What the heck is this?
well that was quick, informative and exactly what i was looking for.
another question, if i remove it by doing nothing but disconnecting it, as if i just cut the wires and tubes right off, what happens
?
also if i wanted to remove it to clean up my engine bay, what modification to the throttle / computer / etc will need to be performed.
Sorry for the noob questions but i am learning fast

No, don't cut the wires, if you want to remove it do it the right way, just unplug the wires, disconnect the cable that goes to the TB, and plug the vaccum port at the intake manifold and unbolt the diaphragm from the chassis. You can sell it on ebay, or save it for when you get older and need the cruise control on long trips like me. LOL

Hey, I race my car and I still have A/C and cruise control that works. When you get old you need all that stuff. LOL

Re: What the heck is this?
You should keep it. It doesn't add any real weight to the car and it doesn't affect acceleration at all. Have you even tried using your cruise control?
Re: What the heck is this?
used cruise control once in my car, and that was more for testing to see if it still worked than to use it. im 23 and RARELY travel on long road trips. I also like to keep my foot on the pedals regardless of where i am for immediate response if needed.

Re: What the heck is this?
I was 19 when I bought my Camaro now 37. Used the cruise control a few times going to San Diego or to Palmdale. Other than that, I test it out from time to time. I don't even pay attention to it really. But nice knowing it's there.

Re: What the heck is this?
I also agree with not cutting the wires.I have removed pretty much everything from under my hood that i dont need to drive it.I have no emissions,a/c,cruise that I can think of off the top of my head.I cut none of the wires incase I want to put stuff back or for some crazy reason decide to sell the car.It will,to me add a sell point that I have everything I removed and all the wires to reconnect it.Dont hack up your car.The main reason I removed my cruise ,or anything else,is I really dont drive the car much.Removing the cruise servo and evap canister, which im going to relocate, freed up room to put my digital 6 and a washer reservoir from a chevy truck down there.
Re: What the heck is this?
it was just a theory i proposed, im not going to butcher anything on my car.
anything i take out will be picture documented, labeled for ease and placed in a labeled box denoting what part it is.
