pulley setup and hookup help

before I begin to explain the situation I would like to know how to change the pulley on the alternator. I have a regular gm alternator but uses a v-belt and I want to use the bracket from the original ( the wide belt ). I am usign the existing pulleys but getting rid of the smog pump. Im not sure but anyone know the parts number of a belt that I can use to run the waterpump alternator and crank pulley. I also need one to run the power steering fluid ( not sure if the the original 305 had a single belt on the crank and water pump.

Re: pulley setup and hookup help

To remove the pulley on the alternator I usually just hit the nut with impact. As for the belt, if you have an old one laying around just run it around the pulleys and cut it to length. Then take it to a parts store and they can find what you need. Just make sure you make it so that the tensioner wont be too far in or out.
