The ZZ409 is a single pattern cam, which by itself, is no sin. I'm no expert, but both cams seem to be overkill for swirlport heads.

Bear in mind the hotcam only gets it's .525 lift with 1.6 rockers.( more $$$)
The ZZ409 has .520 using your original 1.5 rockers
So what heads do you actually have?
What other mods to support larger cam?

I think i have the 083 heads i will have to double check as for supporting mods what do you mean, and the reason i listed both was because i would like to know which would be easier to tune and wont need too much work for my heads.

Neither cam will work with stock 083 heads.
They only have room for .480 lift.

Headers , higher stall , lower diff gears, etc
Engine is a package. You can't just throw one part in and expect it to be right
If cam lift allows more flow than what your heads are capable of then wasting time and $$$ .Little point in having valves open to .525 if head flow maxes @ .500
083 head online data shows very little increase in cfm between .500 and.600 lift
By all accounts 083's are very weak ( low cfm ) on the exhaust side so you probably wouldn't want a single pattern cam

For headers im still undecided wether to go long tube or shorties.
So i would see more gain with a lt4 hot cam since my heads dont that good stock

you would have to have machine work done to the heads so the spring retainers wouldnt hit the valve guides/seals.... i run the hotcam... your gonna need at least a 2500 stall converter to enjoy it. I had to swap back to a stock converter after my tranny gave out....it sucked!!!

In addition to the head work, you should also count on tuning and a new ECM. The two main options are a 93-95 PCM from a TBI truck, or EBL. The stock ECM is only set to provide spark and fuel to 3600 RPMs, which isnt enough for a performance engine, not to mention that its a dinasaur of a computer.
EBL is a custom take on the stock ECM that adds new source code to make it work in a performance application and add flash capabilities, while the truck PCM is basically similar to the TPI ECM in that its a full speed density ECM that has full spark and fuel tables rather than the little ones in the stock ECM.
You will will also need a new manifold and larger TBI with larger injectors and a better fuel pump (TPI or walbro 190 lph). The stock one sucks big time.
This will not be a direct swap once you switch cams, so count on the unseen stuff that will also need to be done to make it all work the way it should.
Edit:
BTW, are you TBI or TPI? Your sig says one, while the description box below your avatar says the other. Big difference between the two.

just tell them you need the heads setup for about a .550-.600 lift... they'll get you taken care of

As for the intake and tbi what kind would be good since i read that the edelbrock intakes dont flow that good either. Oh ansd i already have a tpi pump that i got when i bought the 350.
Oh i have tbi the reason i have 350 tpi was because that was what i first had when i started in this site but since i dont wanna make a new one i just stay with what i have.
