Service Engine Soon light - where is the DLC connector?

My SES light came on ('88 IROC-Z L98) a week or two ago when I had been out for a long drive to blow off the cobwebs after winter. It didn't come on again next time I drove, but today when I fired her up it came on again.

Before anyone says it, I have looked at: https://www.thirdgen.org/service-eng...ht-error-codes - Been reading a few threads on the subject and nobody seems to say exactly where the DLC connector is located? Granted, I haven't even looked yet, but that is because I have no idea what I am looking for - or where I should be looking for it... I am a noob, I know this.

I occasionally get a gurgling noise in my fuel tank after a drive and I usually just let the pressure out of the filler cap. I have read this can be the result of a vent or fuel pump issue and possibly the cause of the SES light?

The DLC connector is under the dash on the drivers side, near the fuse panel. Get the code first and that should give you a good idea where to look for the problem.

You can use any standard OBD1 code reader, but why when a paperclip is free?

The main TGO guide should explain most of it in the "DISPLAYING THE TROUBLE CODES" section:
https://www.thirdgen.org/service-eng...ht-error-codes

But some people (myself included) didn't understand the flashing/blinking sequences at first. I found a similar thread where "itsMikey" explained it clearly:

got it?
So the first blink with a pause is a single or multiple of 10 and the next sequence of blinks are the digits (1-9).

You can see that whole thread here:

Re: Service Engine Soon light - where is the DLC connector?

Finally got round to checking my SES light code yesterday, thanks to my mate Stackofire who came round to show off his shiny just finished Z28.
Turns out its only showing code 12 over and over again... so why was the light coming on? Stacko asked me if the battery had been disconnected as the book also says this can wipe the code - nope, it has definitely not been disconnected since the light first came on.
