Putting together a 92 z28 with the 5.7 TPI that someone had started an engine swap in. We reringed it and put new bearings in because it had a knock when we did have it powered up.

So, my question is, did the 92 5.7 TPI have an EGR solenoid? I've seen a couple of books and posts referencing it on a wiring diagram, but I've seen other references saying it doesn't. I do have a pigtail right next to the coil with nothing to plug it into, so I'm thinking that it's supposed to have one.

If it's supposed to have one, does anyone know a source or a GM part number for one, or will one off the caddy 4.9 or 4.6 engines work?

yes it is supposed to have one. don't have a part number, but from my understanding, they are not available anymore. As for another one fitting, sounds reasonable to me if all the hook ups are the same.

 

Any solenoid of that type will work as long as it is the N/O (normally open) type with the same connections.

Hi guys I have a 91 5.7 TPI and my EGR solenoid is bad. :/ As stated above, they're not available anymore, so I was wondering if someone could tell me which cars EGR solenoids would work for mine, and possibly where to buy said part. Please help?

 

if you can get the GM production number, usually a 6 to 8 character numerical, i may be able to find you one.

 

Not really sure where to find that number. :-/
