wifey woh's
alright me and my wife keep having the same arguements. So i need someone to respond explaining these points.
1 why i should replace my exhaust that goes from a 3 in cat to a 2 1/4 pipe (stock exhaust)
2 why i should rebuild my transmission even though it isnt broken yet
3 why i should rebuild my rear end for the same reason
4 why i should replace all my old bushings
im looking at it as a preventative maintenance stand point. if i do it now it will cost less in the long run.

Re: wifey woh's
Why do they need 635 pairs of shoes and garabage they will only wear once?
hey at least you arent in the bars packing your nose and bringing home stds.
As long as the bills are paid shouldnt be an issue.
Youd think....
Do it anyway

You started an argument you will never win. It's always better to ask for forgiveness, then to ask for permission.

Re: wifey woh's
I agree - you started an arguement you'll never win. Besides, you could have 9/10th of the planets population back you up, and if she doesn't want to spend the money on your car, it won't happen.
OK - now for a reality check to ease your mind ...
1) Exhaust cools - by the time it exits the cat, it cools, condenses as everything does when it cools - you don't need 3" all the way back - you'll never notice anything (except a pissed wife and an empty wallet).
2) Tranny - if it's not slipping, it doesn't need a rebuild. Your not making enough hp to hurt it any, and when it starts to slip, then you'll have no choice. Here, I agree with above, it ain't broke, so don't fix it. It might last 2 days, it might last 20 years - waste of effort, time, & money UNTIL it goes out.
3) Again - your not making enough power to hurt the rear. Again - it ain't broke, don't fix it. And again, when it goes, you'll have no choice, then you can have one built.
4) Bushings - I'll go along with this one. If you've owned the car and haven't done them yet, they need it - badly! Bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints, centerlink, idler arm, sway bar bushings and endlinks. I wouldn't go crazy - no need for panhard bar bushing, no need for LCA bushings, or torque arm bushings, or A-arm bushings ... yet.
Someday, piece by piece, you'll be replacing most of that - no need to put new bushings into old parts that are getting replaced anyway. You'll be getting an adj panhard bar, maybe new LCA's ... those will have bushings in them.
Torque arm - when you do the tranny or rear, THEN do TA bushings - it's a real PITA, might as well wait and do it when you need to take that apart anyway, not now.
A-arms - I'd wait until I was changing shocks/struts/springs before doing them - you are 1 step away from removing A-arm when you do struts and /or springs anyway - might as well wait. You'll need to have a shop press the old out, and press the new in. So, might as well wait and lump the job in when you do springs/struts.
Now - show your wife this post - she should be able to see that I'm a very reasonable guy - I saved her all that other expense while sticking to the safety -minded stuff, and even then I recommend you wait until your taking those pieces out anyway!
Good Luck! Buy her flowers ($5 at any grocery store), give her a big wet sloppy kiss, tell her we all love her, show her this post, and tell here we are trying our best to be reasonable.

Yeah, well ....
YOU guys know that reasoning gets you nowhere.
And I know reasoning gets you nowhere.
But ksith doesn't know it yet. He has to learn like the rest of us - the HARD way. I was just trying to give him some reasons to reason with! It won't work, but at least he won't come off as a complete babbling fool anyway!
ksith ... we love ya man, we really do! We got your back!
{unless OUR wives are looking over our shoulders, and then we don't know you from Adam!}

Re: wifey woh's
yeah my quote was from before i got married and had a kid to let you know. as far as why I feel I need to do all this. Well first off the muffler has a hole in it just found that out the other day. Mine as well do the rest of the cat back while im doing the muffler. And im hearing this weird noise coming from somewhere. cant pin point it either. It only happens when i have forward momentum and then only between 1500 and 1700 rpm's any gear. It doesnt get slower or faster when i push the pedal. im confused things seem fine but i want to rebuild just to be safe. like i said a t56 is just a dream now but i did find a nice 700r4 rebuild kit. the rear end is still going to be rebuilt with a posi though.
thanks for all your advice and help. camaronewbie you seem like you know what your talking about im bring up some of those points with her and see how she chews on them for a while. before i show her this post. and and by the way she ahs told me she wants a 79 trans am.

the way i see it is the money i make is mine and hers is hers. we have separate checking accounts because she kept spending my money. so as longs as the bills are paid buy whatever you want. she doesnt like it so what, as long as you are using your money tell her how it is. i dont complain when she buys dumb stuff with her extra money and i expect her to do the same.

My advice. Work on the car figure out your noises.. Car needs to be dependable and reliable, If a daily driver. Kind of like bickering over 87 and 89 octane whats 10cents for 20 gallons? 2 dollars?
Do what ya can, don't let the kid starve.. You only live once.. have fun.. be safe..
You know what ya say to a woman with two black eyes? Nothing you just told her twice... LOL just a Joke.... And remember..It's cheaper to Keep her..
Been married 18years.. our relationship works like this.. my money is her money and her money is her money.. My bills are getting lower and i now get to spend some money on my third Gen...But my boys never went hungry..

Ok too funny, but might as well share in the responses,
The woman always wins... as bad as this seems its true you **** her off
no fun time and you know what i mean... next you have to have her pissy all day or night and hopefully she does not hold onto it.
my experience led me to leave it parked and slowly bought piece by piece
4 years later i finally put it together then after it was all done divorced huh? so i said youwaited this long i could of had this done by now so the ex wife watched me pull up to my house and she said oh can i go for a ride i said no hunny you already took me for a ride lol my camaro had to wait but it won my big girl... lol she was always loyal to me lmao... go buy a beater save the gas money and repairs and when your done with the repairs on the car sell the beater get some cash back and keep it moving you dont have to sacrifice everything just do it smarter and with a twist even you can do this at home...
