350 identification
hi, i have a 350 centerbolt valvecover engine with roller lifters, block casting 14093638 and vin stamp is suspected to be an AWA, but only the WA is legible. is there any way to tell what this engine came out of, or what the specs would be on it? it was pulled from a mid 80's pickup but it was a reman engine.

don't expect earth shattering performance from it.

Suffix code = AWA
Year = 1989
Displacement = 350
HP = 225
Induction = TPI L98
Automatic transmission behind it.

14093638...350...87-95...one-piece rear seal ...2 or 4 bolt mains ...Roller or flat tappet cam,
The casting number is for a run-of-the-mill block.Found in everything from TBI trucks to TPI Vettes.
Most commonly machined for the roller cam even if a flat tappet cam ( usually trucks / vans ) was installed

Re: 350 identification
thanks for the replies, wondering what the engine code will be on this, 70630AWA are the digits on the rh front of the block. would it be the 7? found so many different sites that all give different information on this engine. different HP ratings, etc. some sites say it was a tbi, others say it was tpi. can anyone tell me what this would've had with head casting number 14101083. this thing had a carb when i got the engine, but was a reman engine. thanks for the help!

Re: 350 identification
Are you saying the heads on it say 083 on them?
083 are factory IROC L98 heads. Came on Tuned Port 5.7 Z28s and IROCs.

Re: 350 identification
The 7 is probably a T for Tonawanda engine plant. 0630 is June 30

Re: 350 identification
906 is Vortec. Those heads originally came out of a 96-98 truck or a crate engine based off the engine in the 96-98 trucks.
