Re: cleaning injectors
i dont think you HAVE to but you might as well get new ones theyre very cheap and when reinstalling injectors use a small amount of vaseline or white lithium grease , it will help prevent damaging oring when reinstalling them...hope this is help ful ive done plenty of injectors and screwed up a few but not using any lubrication (like i said only a small amount to both orings being careful not to get any in your freshly cleaned injectors
) good luck!

Re: cleaning injectors
ive always set them in a coffe can with pb blaster in the bottom , injectors standing up, and spraying pb from the top...thats not the proper way to do it its kind of a thing ive done that seems to work...im not really sure of really how to do it,,i think advance or autozone has a kit to do it? maybe im not positive though or you can ask you mechanic/parts store if theyll do it, there is a guy in my town who does it for free and i stand by his work he uses and airline adapter and fills the top of the injector with solvent, lets it sit, then he hooks up the fitting to the top and it blows out the debris

Re: cleaning injectors
The way the pros do it, is to remove the little screen filter in them, ultrasonically clean them, then force a cleaning solvent through them in reverse while holding them open electrically; then put a new filter in them.

Can't imagine PB Blaster dissolving fuel varnish since I've never seen it do anything of the kind, but I could be surprised.
YOu can just soak them in lacquer thinner, MEK, or acetone, and that will do wonders for them even if not getting them completely immaculate.

Re: cleaning injectors
Ultrasonic cleaning is the best method but soaking in a strong cleaner will do wonders, just dint get it in the terminals and it shouldn't do any harm. Not replacing O-rings/seals on the other hand may not be such a good idea.

if you are just looking to clean up the "cosmetics" of the injectors, get yourself a bottle of simple green...dilute it with some water and let them soak overnight. The true way to clean and injector,, is to have them professionally cleaned and flowtested. All of these cleaners and additives including something like seafoam or techron work well, only problem is that you are not able to visualize the finished product....ie spray pattern. If you do not want to go that route, let me know and i will send you some orings.

Re: cleaning injectors
South bay is right on the money. Just so you know, my injector service charges $20 per injector. Cheap for knowing that your injectors flow correctly. Plus, you get brand new o-rings installed.
Re: cleaning injectors
truthfully, the best way and the safest way to test them is on a flowbech. We would be more than happy to check them for you if you like.
