Re: Alternator

Autozone.com shows a stock replacement of 105 amps, so I'd say that's what you have.

Re: Alternator

When upgrading to a higher amp alternator, you need to keep it in the same series or it won't fit. Many of the higher amp alternators are physically larger and you'll need to change the mounting hardware.

Re: Alternator

Powermaster makes a 140 amp model that is a direct fit. I've got one on my 87 IROC and it works great. Little on the pricey side though. You will need a 10 gauge charger wire also.

Re: Alternator

So true Alky.....................
If you want to move up from your stock cs-133 105 amp unit and go
to a cs/ad 144 150-160 amp unit your gonna have a size and fit issue
not to mention the cs-144s are $200+ for a re-man unit.

For a direct bolt in a Powermaster unit is the way to go !!!!!!!

OR..........Call arount to any local alternator re-build shops and see if they
can "pump up" your existing unit to 150-175 amps.

Re: Alternator

I got one from ebay and the company was springhill alternator but it is a 230a cs-130 with a overdrive pulley and it has been keeping my two batteries charged and handles my stereo system just fine for 3 years now.
