Recently on my newly acquired 82 firebird, i have changed the spark plugs, cleaned the distributor and rotor, tested the ignition, triple checked the firing order, checked the spark plugs for spark, checked the gas, and poured some gas into the carb, but still it will not fire. Im a little dumbfounded. Any ideas?

compression test is a test to check the compression of the cylinders. Have you verified that you get spark at the plugs? not just check the cap and rotor and coil with a meter but visually see the spark plug working?

Yes, i have tested the spark plugs and they do spark. And, the car hasnt ran in, probably 4-5 years. I have only had it for a month.

So after running a compression test, 6 of my cylinders are getting 170-175 psi and another 2 are 90-100 psi. What does that mean?
