Re: couple fixes i need help with

High Beams - under steering column, just above brake pedal there is a hi beam switch, under the hush panel. two small screws hold it on. Moving the hi beam lever, you'll see a metal rod moving in/out of this switch - set tilt wheel to normal driving postion, and lossen the two screws, and move the switch up the column just a tad, and test ... until you get it where it works again. The switch over time slips down the column, and the rod cannot actuate the switch anymore.

Turn signal - you have a bulb blown somewhere on the side that doesn't blink. Remember, the side markers blink as well. If a bulb blows out, they will not blink - even if the 4 way flashers work.

Sorry - I'm no help on the tach.

Sometimes a bad flasher can cause one light to stay on while the other will still blink. The flasher is located in the fuse panel, big round thing.

Re: couple fixes i need help with

Hmmm... Well it's been a while since I've had to replace one but according to chilton's manual..."The turn signal flasher is located inside the convenience center. In order to gain access to the turn signal flasher, it may be necessary to first remove the under dash padding." Usually up under the dash on the drivers side. The "under dash padding" is a plastic panel that usually needs to be removed to get to it. Some call it a kick panel because it's right above your feet when you drive.

Re: couple fixes i need help with

Sometimes it's just hanging from some wires under there. It's a bright shiny little tin can looking thing about an inch around. There are two of them I believe. One for turn signals and one for flashers

I replaced the fuse and the turn signals work.
The high beam swith, I can't access the screw, too many wires in the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: couple fixes i need help with

If you loosen the bolts holding it up, you can drop the column and now sitting in the drivers seat you can look down the top of it while you reach down under to get to them

Re: couple fixes i need help with

No, it will only go down a few inches before the steering wheel hits the seat anyway, but let it down slow in case somebody wrapped something up in there that will get pulled on. When you are sitting in the seat just rest it on your knees.

Re: couple fixes i need help with

with your tach issue, did you look at the tach wire under the side of the distributor cap? or try to follow it back to the dash? the only reason i could think that it wouldnt work is that the signal wire is broken or disconnected. hope this helps

Re: couple fixes i need help with

Do a search on the tach. I can't remember exactly but there is a relay or something like that on the circut board for the tach that burns out and causes the tach to not work or act funny. there are threads on here on how to fix it.
