Re: Too good to be true?

Seems like a decent price. While there were limited LT cars produced, it wasn't a particularly desirable package, just like my Matrix 3 vert is 1 out of about 500, but that does little to help the value.

The price on the car is probably a bit lower than it could be, due to the DARE paint. Is it airbrushed? If you can get a good solid car that is mostly rust free and running well for under $2000, your doing pretty decent. I'd say its a pretty good price, but its not "too good to be true"

And yeah, it seems to me people have been wanting far too much for a lot of 3rd gens this spring. Can't decide if it means they are getting more valuable, or if people just think their project from last year is worth more than it really is...

wouldnt surprise me to see the odo has rolled over, but who knows.

if the car is solid, its worth it. but if its been butchered, it can be a mess

Re: Too good to be true?

id say its a fair price for a car with 53000. no easy way of telling for sure though

what are your goals for your car? something performance oriented, or just a nice car to cruse around in?

Nice car to cruise around in, I would like to do some bolt on modifications but i know that isnt ideal on high mileage engines. Even if it had 154k i feel like thats still fairly priced. I just think when people rattle off everything done to there car like that who knows how it was put in if it was right or not.

that seems to be a fair price, depending on where you live. In AZ where these cars last forever (No rust.) that price is a little high, but in other parts of the country that is a good deal!

Whenever you buy a used car you take the chance of inheriting someone elses problems. that's part of the "fun" of owning one! LOL Good luck to you!

Re: Too good to be true?

No such thing as just one rust spot. Ever. In the history of the world. Brake line and exhaust problems confirm same.

And all those tons of new parts, except maybe for the fuel pump, are all chicken scratch.

Might be too good to be true for the seller if he gets $1800.

Re: Too good to be true?

I talked to the buyer and hes a college student who bought the car without his parents knowing and they got pissed. So i feel like he needs to get rid of the car and will take less than the asking price, he is the third owner, so i can assume the vehicle has 154k, if hes asking 1800 the price i have in mind is somewhere around 1200. I feel like at that price its a solid foundation for a car to cruise around in, he did go into detail about the passenger rear wheel well. Its rusted through and is about the size of a tennis ball he claims. I think with that and the brake line the muffler and the fact that his parents dont want him owning it I can chew him down to 1200, I would probably start at 1k and work up to that. However, thats just what i envision and I have never bought a car before.

Re: Too good to be true?

It's o.k. to be dealing with a deserate buyer, but not a desperate car.

Stay away from a holey car. Tennis ball sized holes will grow into softball, and shortly thereafter, cantaloupe sized holes. I promise you'll hate it almost right away.

Wait for a better foundation to get started on. Then look for cars in the $5k range. And then Chew the seller down from there.
