hi guys i got a 355 sbc 2 piece seal, and its a new engine, the carb thats on it is a edlebrock 1406 camshaft is a 280H comp cam hydraulic flat tappet with estreet 64cc heads , stock fuel pump btw , the plugs are black how ever from carbon , any thing to check out?

Did you tune the carb per directions?
Mixture sounds very rich for plugs to have gas fouling.
Do an oil & filter change. Gas will wash out the bearings.
Is the fuel pump new?

Make sure you have a good blue spark at the plugs. A yellow // orange spark is weak. A weak spark will also cause gas fouled plugs.

hi there the oil pump is from a previous engine but i changed the eddy 1406 stock metering springs to the silver heavier springs thinking that would solve it cuz of the longer duration cam but now it wont start , the engine has only really started maybe 4 times since rebuild and now it wont start , what is the procedure for the AFR ?
