Re: 462 head on sbc

They don't have the bolt holes to put your accessories back on.

You won't get far without an alternator.

No you can't drill and tap em. If you could, there'd be AHELLUVALOT more of em driving around, than you've ever seen before. There's ALOT LOT LOT of those in the world, sitting around in people's garages, waiting for .... something that will never happen .... , because they don't fit anything made since before 1970.

This is all you've got to drill into. All the space you've got for a bolt. And of course, the bolts would have to go into water. Basically, no way to work. Yes, if it were possible, somebody would have figured out a way, in the 40-odd years since those quit coming on cars; the fact it hasn't been figured out yet, ought to send up a big red flag in your mind.

There's a reason they were "free". Think about it. And that reason is, nobody else can use em, either. If people could actually make use of em, they'd have value, and they wouldn't have been free.

Best not to go too far down this road, lest you tear up something you can't easily fix. Which might be, some part of your car, or scrapping the heads themselves outright, or who knows what else.

Sell em to the next "greater fool" that doesn't know what the deal is, and buy something you can actually use.

What intake you run depends upon what cam you run.

The heads may not do as well with that cam as other heads might, but a Performer RPM would be the intake to use.

Re: 462 head on sbc

That cam should be fine. Agree on the RPM intake as well.

Re: 462 head on sbc

What a coincidence. I'm getting ready to just give away my 462 heads too. Don't feel like letting them sit in the garage, and it wouldn't even be worth the 4 or 5 dollars in scrap money.
