Re: Whats the best mod you've done so far to your third gen?
Yikes! Where to begin?
I'd have to say, the best thing (for me) that I've done was got rid of the computer and went carbed 350. 2nd would have to be 3.42 rear gears. 3rd would have to be suspension (Bilsteins and Eibach). And paint!
Basically (since my wallet is empty), I'm done with the big stuff (I've got over $15k into my car now). It's little things here and there next on my list. SFC's and drag bag airbags in the rear, redo my headliner again (better this time), 4 channel amp and new speakers.
Some day, maybe ... a carbed LSx - there's ALWAYS the need for more speed!
BUT - in the end - what I'm MOST proud of - is the fact that I did it all myself! I used all basic tools (I think the single most expensive tool I own is my jack, and it only cost me $39). I did it all in the driveway with the rain, snow, heat, and mosquitos. Only thing I didn't do was tranny rebuild and paint - and I removed/installed the tranny and did alot of the paint prep myself. So, my baby is literally a product of my hard work and determination!

moving the speed limiter to 155 instead of 118. 2.73 gears, OD, 355 swap =
+1 for 3.42 posi rear end, I like thirdgens as touring cars though so 2.73 for me!

Engine swap, and all the goodies period. Other than that, I would say wheels an tires.

Re: Whats the best mod you've done so far to your third gen?
I haven't modded mine yet, its gonna be more of a restoration project than a hot rod. It'll probably have a 383 dropped in in place of the 305, but it won't be too radical.

i havent gotten them yet, but i have a feeling that the best "MOD" i could do is some SUB-FRAME CONNECTORS.
it sucks when you can feel your car stretch under heavy load

Re: Whats the best mod you've done so far to your third gen?
So far-
Power/Drivetrain- 3" SLP catback. Factory exhaust was tiny and had a bunch of leaks, so I definitely felt a difference.
Suspension- Poly bushings and Wonderbar. The bushings made a huge difference in the feel... didn't notice anything with the Wonderbar but it's good insurance.
As said above, I gotta feeling that SFC's (as well as the Ground Control/ Koni package) will really make the car even more of a go kart... can't wait!
Oh, and the driver mod! It's an ongoing thing, but the seat time has made a huge improvement over my initial lack of experience from driving FWD cars all the time. Autox should help even more.

Rod-ended LCAs.
There is NO hesitation when I hit the gas. It just GOES. No waiting for the rubber bushings to compress & transfer the power to the tires. I never thought about that aspect before doing it, but sure did notice it afterwards! Sure were worth the $.

The brakes. Our stock brakes are scary inadequate, especially with a big cam.

Getting rid of the 305
Subframe connectors really took out a lot of the body twist pulling into my driveway and of course is even better now with the roll bar.
