Can't figure rough running problem out. Please Help
Ok, my 87 350 TPI camaro started running rough at idle and became very hard to keep running. This is an original low mileage car with a handful of bolt ons, but is basically unmolested. The ignition module tested bad and so did the pick up, so I replaced them and no change. It runs very rich and sounds almost like it has a radical cam. Plugs were rich, changed them. 47 PSI fuel pressure, fresh fuel filter, coolant sensor and TPS tested good. I also changed the computer out with a known good computer. I want to know what to look for as I am on a budget. O2 sensor? How do I check the MAF? This problem basically started overnight so I'm sort of thinking of something electrical. Please help, this poor car hasn't been out of the garage in a year and a half.
Many thanks in advance.

this is an answer I posted to a very similar question, it fits here also
sometimes the answers so obvious we don,t want to see it!
Im always amazed at the guys that don,t break out the shop manual and multi meter when things don,t run correctly and the guys that don,t pull the trouble codes .
my neighbors kid just purchased a 1987 camaro from some other kid, the car runs like crap, hard to start, ran rough, stalled, cut out frequently, etc. and after a few tests we get down to measuring the sensors, and I find the manifold temp sensor is reading off the scale open, the fuel filter looks like its 10 years old minimum as its well rusted, and 5 of the 8 fuel injectors don,t read anyplace close to the ohms range they should, 2 are dead open reading off the scale open, and 1 reads 57 ohms two read in the 25-30 ohms range
I also find the intake has vacuum leaks, I point those things out and strongly suggest he buy new intake gaskets, a manifold temp sensor and a new set of 24 lb injectors, naturally the kid wants to try some injector cleaner as hes on a limited budget, I tell him it can,t hurt but its also unlikely to help.
I tell him to get on the internet and start shopping and look for a new set for under $350, but don,t buy anything until I check it out!
he will need to check all the sensors and the O2 sensor is suspect

Re: Can't figure rough running problem out. Please Help
Thanks for the replys. I am currently checking the timing right now. I am getting very intermittent trouble codes, it just through a code 33 so I guess I have high voltage to the MAF circuit. How do I check this one?

Ahh Hah! I just checked the timing and set it to 8 Before. With the Grey wire disconnected this thing runs great! What the heck does this mean?
