A/C help

Ok, so when I first got my camaro a few months ago, the A/C was only cold on days that it wasnt very hot, but if it was hot, it just blew out air, not hot air or cold air, just mid temp air. Then my radiator broke, so I replaced it along with the hoses and flushed it all out, and pulled all the leaves and trash out from between the radiator and whatever that other thing behind it is (also looks like a radiator, but what does it do?). After I replaced that, 2 months ago, the A/C was very cold EVERY day, not matter how hot it was outside, and now all of a sudden, it's back to how it was when I bought it, except working a lot less, and the only other work I did was remove the injector pods and replace the o-rings, gaskets, supports and filters, so why is the A/C not working again? Thanks for any help guys

Re: A/C help

did you check to see if there is stuff between the condenser(the thing that looks like a radiator) and radiator again? or you may be leaking freon

in simple terms, the condenser removes heat from the freon in the a/c system, if you want a full explanation on an a/c system I'll do my best but not at 1:45am

Re: A/C help

Yea, I thought that was just another radiator for the a/c lines, I'll check to see if it's clogged up again but it shouldn't be, and it's 2:52 a.m. here haha

Re: A/C help

either your fan isnt working (you'd also see overheating) or something in the a/c system has failed. pop the hood and identify the a/c compressor. with engine running and a/c on check to see if the compressor clutch is engaging. if it is not, then your either low on freon (very likely) or have some power problem (not as likely). If your low on freon you have a leak. and most likely it is from the compressor or some o-ring somewhere. a rock may have kicked up and knicked the condenser assembly. my

Re: A/C help

Yes. But maybe you fixed one problem. and something else failed. mechanical parts can fail at anytime.

Re: A/C help

Why does the clutch look like? Is it on the big metal thing that sweats with the ac on?

Re: A/C help

I have a 87 IROC that i just bought and the ac is blowing out of the defrost mostly very little out of the vents but under hood where the ac and heater box is it feels like air is coming out and you can feel air where the vent where the windshield wiper is on the passenger side could that be why its doing that

is your vacuum line that goes to the dash to change the controls connected?
That will default to defrost upon failure. Worth checking.

OP...Check the freon level for poor cooling issues. You need to know the high and low values. Only proper gauges should be used and not those walmart/part store top up gimmicks. Too high a pressure is bad and likely means air in the system. If you can't do that try to find a shop fairly priced for diagnostics.
Good luck.
