Hey boys I have an 87 tpi and recently put edelbrock intake and runners on it, a bbk 52 tb and 1.6 roller rockers, it already had a comp cam 98h cam. Anywho it pulls ok but if you really keep your foot on her for a bit you hear a bit of a sound like a rattling paint can and then the engine light turns on but then turns of next time I start the car. It doesn't really sound like it's knocking but it could be. It's set at 6 deg right meow. Let me know what to hit with a hammer

 

Well, that does sound like engine knock. What octane fuel do you use?

 

At least 91 or 94 usually with a booster. Do you think a prom tune would fix it?

 

I would think so. When you've modded things, a tune is definitely needed.

 

Kk will do. What size of injecrors are you running? Im still on the factory ones and I think they are a little over loaded. I was looking at boch 32s

 

I am running Bosch 24 lb injectors. I have modified my engine with a mild port job(heads and intake), headers, a Comp Cams XR264HR cam and associated valve train components. I actually used our site sponsor, Southbay Fuel Injectors for my purchase. I was lost as to what I needed to do, and they took a list of my changes and recommended the 24's. So far, everything works pretty good. I'd give them a call. To me, 32's sound too big, but I am only guessing.

 

Ya I sent those guys my specs and they suggested 32 but ya that does seem a little big time for what I have. Did you tune yours yourself or get it done. And do you have factory ecm? Thanks for the quick replies by the way

 

I do have the factory ecm in my car. I tried to go the route of putting an after market chip in it at first and it made it run better, but still not what it should be so I am in the process of getting a custom tune for it as we speak.
