1987 2.8 Manual: Wont Start

What Happened: I had the front my car on jack stands looking for an exhaust leak and was revving the engine to look for the leak, then the car just sounded like it stalled out. I tryed turning it over again and it wouldnt even try it. The gauges in my car would just jump and my car would make a weird noise (sounded like a bee buzzing). It wouldnt even try to crank over. i checked the battery and it looked low.

What i have done:
Recharged Battery: 12.6 (Tryed Turning over-No Good)
Hooked Truck Battery Up: No Good
Replaced Negative Hookup: It broke apart, found that the negative body connecter wasnt even hooked up. (tryed cranking, NO GOOD)
Checked Fuses: Under Dash, the two fuses hooked up near the negative cable ground and the 40A one on the posotive. (all good)

what i discovered and replaced but have a question on
The positive broke apart too, by this time im getting really frustrated so i fixed it but when i was i found anther stray wire. i was coming out of what looked like a ground wire near the positive terminal near the fan so i hooked that into the positive, the crank wire was seperated from the positive connector that goes into the battery, im thinking the stray wire i had found intertwinned in it but im not sure becuase it didnt fit. (tryed cranking it over and it kinda tryed, came close almost but no cigar, gave it some gas and it smoked and smelt like gas) (by then i just gave up!)

WHATS WRONG!!!!

is it a bad starter!?
Bad Connector?
Starter solenoid (how do i check for it)
*im about to just send it into a mechanic, its stressing me out*
it started great before until then, no issues.
MT with 65,000 miles
I know someone might be able to help!!

You need to check for 12v at big terminal on the starter, small wire should have 12v only while cranking, make sure the starter body has a good ground.
You need a wiring diagram, that stray wire sounds like a fuseable link.

this might sound dumb but you jump the starter by? also it could be a bad solenoid?

you jump the starter by using a metal object, like a screw driver, to make contact beween the big post on the starter and the soleniod contact. if the starter spins then you have an issue with voltage getting to the soleniod.

I dont mean to sound stupid, but just to make sure, will ill be able to run all the tests without having to jack the car up, the starter could easily be accesed through the top?

Just make sure its out of gear!!!
Much safer to test for voltage.

dont think your gonna be able to get to the starter from the top, and yea make sure you jump it in neutral with the key NOT in the ignition.

Re: 1987 2.8 Manual: Wont Start

I just got a call from the shop where it was at and they told me the motor was seized. I had a feeling but i just denied it, i shoulda known even with the shitty tools i had that when i couldnt turn the crank over that it was seized, but i guess it was a good 200 dollars well spent on getting a "professional" even though i told him to turn the motor over with a 1/2 after he said it was the starter. but o well im out 1,000 total, 800 for car and 200 for the diagnosing fee and towing. Im going to save up for a real nice car. Im thinking i want to save up for a syclone or typhoon.
