Violent Vibration above 2,000 RPM

hows it going everybody....
I just got my second camaro and I need help ASAP

when I have the car in park and rev the engine, the entire car vibrates. (I feel it in the seat of my pants) and when I'm driving the car at any MPH I still experience the same vibration...any ideas or tips?

I don't know much about the car besides some
basics: it's a 350sbc, mild comp cam, 700R4 tranny, and two bar Holley Carb and hooker headers...

Re: Violent Vibration above 2,000 RPM

Incorrect flex plate/harmonic balancer, mismatched/misinstalled rotating assembly would be a good place to start to investigate.

I forgot to add that it doesn't vibrate at idle...
it has a cam so it has a nice lope to it but at idle there's no vibration. I looked at the harmonic balancer and it looked ok I didn't see or hear a wobble.

Re: Violent Vibration above 2,000 RPM

is this how the vehicle behaved when purchased? Or, have you done some work to it and now it has this characteristic?

Re: Violent Vibration above 2,000 RPM

this is how it behaved when I got it, I've only had it for a week and drove it about 30 miles to my house once I picked it up. I haven't done anything to it yet. motor mounts and harmonic balancer look ok and there are no crazy sounds just a sick a*# vibration

oh and it's an automatic, no five speed :-(

Wrong flexplate as stated above (or other rotating assembly imbalance). Note, we didn't say, "bad flexplate," we said its the wrong flexplate. You're not gonna be able to tell by looking at it.

What crank is in it?

ok that makes sense (excuse me for showing my lack of knowledge) but I plan on taking off a few parts Tuesday so I guess I'll know more then. and how would I know if it's the wrong flexplate?

Re: Violent Vibration above 2,000 RPM

It depends on several factors. Is it a 1 piece Rear main seal or a two piece? Factory or aftermarket crank?

Re: Violent Vibration above 2,000 RPM

i just recently found out that an engine i bought had an external balance crank in it with an internal balance flywheel and dampner. caused a nice vibration. i have the engine in peices getting rebuilt for my truck and have a new correct flexplate and dampner already sitting in the living room.
