engine question

Was it possible to get a 5.7 v8 in a non-Iroc z28? I know it was possible in an Iroc. Thanks, Brad

The reason I ask is because there is a camaro I am looking at that is a 1987 z28 with a 350. is there any other ways to tell if a car is an Iroc from a Z28 other than the big "Iroc" sticker on the side?

Re: engine question

for the original engine, the easiest way is to look at the vin#...
Look at the eighth digit--- 8=350, F=305.Tpi, H=305.Carb, S=6cyl. That's it for 1987

Re: engine question

Chevy didn't have the equivalent of a Formula 350 that pontiac sold, but the cops could get a RS w/ a 350.

What digit would I be looking for in a 1988 iroc? 8 as well?

Re: engine question

The new 350 (RPO code L98) was only available in the IROC-Z and only with an automatic transmission.

The IROC-Z did not exist in 91-92, GM stopped producing them half way through 1990. So from 91-92 only the Z-28 got the 350 (1LE and B4C cars excluded).
