Fuel Pump Pressure
I was looking at the difference between the o.e fuel ppump and the new bosch one i bought. it says the old one pushed maximum flow of about 90 psi and the one i have now is only 12psi. is this bad? its installed already.

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure
However, your MPFI engine isn't going to run with 12 psi of fuel pressure. That sounds like a carburetor FP.
Service spec for fuel pressure is 43 - 47 psi (or there-abouts). Nominal of 43.5 psi.

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure
This doesn't tell me a lot. Have a link or part # for the set up?
The other thing to do is to put a fuel pressure gauge on it. There is a pressure port at the rear of the fuel rail. Can get to it from between the rear of the plenum and the distributor. As above, the fuel pressure should be between 43 & 47 PSI.
There is a red pigtail near the brake booster. Run that to battery + (with ignition off). That will power up the fuel pump.

ok so i am going to borrow a FP Tester, do i have to have to connect the red pigtail to the battery or is it ok if i just connect the batery to power it,??

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure
That would be the correct pump. Specs say it pushes a max of 60 psi unregulated. I am not sure where you found that it only pushes 12 psi? Did you use a gauge on in to verify?

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure
Looking at your link I can't see why the one you have is not the correct one. All the specs and applications seems to fit your car. I recently replaced the fuel pump on my carb'ed ZZ3 and when I went to my local Chevy dealership, the parts guy said there are basically two types of fuel pumps, carb and fuel injection. All I told him was I have a carb'ed engine and he knew what one I needed. Carb'ed fuel pumps are in the 14 psi range and FI fuel pumps are in the 45 - 60 psi range. Either it works or it won't! And FYI to any carb'ed people reading this thread, fuel pressure at the carb --a Rochester q-jet for example-- is no more than 5.5 psi. A $20.00 Holley fuel regulator with a pressure gauge works fine.

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure
As far a pressure, it should work, but there are two different part numbers between a v6 and a v8. Bosch 69222 is for the v6 and the one you bought is for a v8. I really am not sure what the difference is though.
