Possible to change sparkplugs on 305 V8 without going underneath?

The sparkplugs are a pain in the *** to reach, do I really have to get a jack to lift the front up to change the sparkplugs?

Maybe, if you have skinny enough arms, and don't mind pain.

Just get a jack, dude.

It ain't worth the effort of fighting from above. You can reach like 3 easily from the top. Just get the rest from below.

I did them twice from the top.... Very painful... Then i found out there 250,000 times easier to do from the bottom. Yes, two hundred and fifty thousand.

Build your own. The store bought ones are too steep. The nose hits the ramps before the tires do & home-made ones are stronger & cheaper, just not as light.

I do mine from the top. #2 and 4 are the toughest under the old style AIR pump and diverter valve/plumbing layout, but can be done. #6 & 8 are pretty easy with a plug socket and a hex wrench (there is a REASON for the flats on a plug socket).

I did them from the top about a month ago. 7 and 8 are the real PITA. Def possible just be patient. I found the hardest part was threading 7 and 8. I triple checked it. Also took the hood off for other work i was doing but it helped with the plugs too

Stick a paver or board in front of the ramp, drive up on that first.

Re: Possible to change sparkplugs on 305 V8 without going underneath?

Park it on a curb and lay in the street.

Back in the 70s when they started sending men into space for long periods of time and they needed to write stuff, NASA invested several million $$$$ to develop a special ball-point pen that would write in any position. How cool!!

The Russians, faced with the same situation, sent a pencil.

Who was smarter?

Park the car on a curb.

No thanks. My home-made ramps are still cheaper than the store bought ramps & stronger.
