Metric rings. These are the ones I got for my 98 block

You need to have a 400 grit de-glazing for these rings as they are plasma moly.

Often called honing it is when you use one of those honing tools that has 3 spring loaded stones that you attached to a drill. While you spin the drill you move it in and out of the cylinder bore. All while lubricating with a light machine oil or WD-40. You only want to do it for a short period of time to take off the glaze on the cylinder wall. If you don't get the glaze off the cylinder walls the rings will never seat in correctly and it will be down on compression and probably burn oil.
For the plasma moly rings you want to use a 400 grit stone compared to the old school 220 grit

Well from what I read so far from you, your better off taking it to a machine shop and let them tell you what you need letting them hone the block. You do need to know how to get a good cross hatch on the cylinders and that takes experience. Not a knock against you at all,but for the time and money,it is well worth paying them to do it on a machine which will give you better results than with a hand hone.Maybe even have them do it with deck plates which represent what the bores are like once the heads are torqued on.We add .005 to the ring gap to prevent the ring ends from butting against each other.
