It has a/c but it doesn't matter if the a/c is on or off

Re: help with squealing noise?

I had some squealing noise recently. Funny thing is my power steering bracket broke. And when it did my serpentine belt fell off, so i had to buy a new one. After replacing it never had another noise. And my car runs better then it ever did. i think i had some slack or something. When i would turn ac on i would have less power. But i bought the best belt and it really made a difference. Has a 3 yr warranty too! Might be something totally different for you. But i did have a squealing noise.

Re: help with squealing noise?

If the car is stopped but running does it squeal when you turn the steering wheel? Water pumps can squeal when they are starting to go bad. Squeals usually are belt related. Squeeks tend to be suspension related. With the car parked and off try walking around to each corner and push the car down on the suspension and let it come up. See if you can replicate the squeek.

Re: help with squealing noise?

doesnt squeal when turning the wheel and just tried pushing down on the car to check the suspension and still no squeak. so im assuming something with the belt?? the belt itself is fairly new.

lol...good point! Does it only do it when you brake? Did it squeal before you changed the belt?

Re: help with squealing noise?

No never squeaked before and I didn't think it was brakes because it squeaks while I'm moving then it stops as soon as I touch the brakes. Could it still be the brakes?

Re: help with squealing noise?

Brake pads have little metal shavings in them at the end of the pad to warn you that it is time for a pad change. Very well could be your problem.
