Just Cranks Won't Fire Up
Just Cranks Won't Fire Up
Ok, so I have an 88 with 2.8 MPFI that's been parked for 5 years. I'm trying to get it started as my daily driver.
Initially it had no spark and I found the distributor all corroded. I rebuilt it with new pickup coil, icm, and just replace the ignition coil. Now I have spark, but still won't fire.
Question 1 because I see different answers when searching. Is cylinder 1 front driver or front passenger side? Currently I set it TDC with 1 being front passenger.
Assuming I have that set properly is there anything other than fuel that could still cause a problem? I know I probably need to go through and replace most vacuum lines as there is a lot of dry rot, but I was trying to just get it to fire first.
Tomorrow I'm going to check fuel pressure, but was just trying to get any ideas in the mean time.
Thanks for any advice in advance.

Check the plugs; are they wet with fuel from no spark?
If they are wet fuel is not your problem
If not fuel that is most likely your problem
But on EFI you need fuel pressure and the injectors firing to get fuel.
Get a noid light and see if the injectors are being pulsed when the engine cranks over

Thanks guys, I'll grab a noid light on my way home tonight. Don't know if I'll get to test tonight, but if not definitely by this weekend and I'll post back where things stand.
Re: Just Cranks Won't Fire Up
Well, I have a noid light ordered to be here tomorrow, but int he mean time I was checking it and the timing is off by a lot more than I thought. probably a good 20 degrees or better so that probably isn't helping matters. I have to fix that first tomorrow night and then if that doesn't solve it I'll have the noid light to continue troubleshooting.
