Re: No Start Again

Can't keep throwing parts at it. First, does it gave spark, unplug a plug wire, rig it to gap 1/4 inch. Have someone crank and watch for spark, and how hot it looks. If no spark stop. If spark pull 1 spark plug, is it wet, smell like gas? Compression test? Let me know, we need to find out which way to go!

This car is in excellent original condition and has very few miles on it, it has been drivin a total of 1500 miles since 1999 if that has anything to do with it

Re: No Start Again

Its getting both and this car ran excellent when i bought it several months ago and now wont start all the sudden....took it to a garage to get a diagnosis as another opinion and they said it was the fuel pressure regulator.I replaced it and still nothing.I dont want to fix anymore stuff and waste money.Could the fuel pump be another culprit

How do you know?
What is the fuel pressure at the rail ?
Does it hold constant?
Are the injectors being pulsed?
As noted above , are the plugs wet with fuel?

Just because the pump is pumping doesn't mean fuel is getting into the engine ( or in right amount)

Re: No Start Again

Im not anything more than a basic mechanic......My local garage looked at it and told me it was the fuel pressure regulator but wanted 500 bucks to fix it. I did it myself because thats too much. Now i cant get it started to get it looked at again and i have just basic tools brother so im at a loss

Re: No Start Again

Take a trip to a parts store and rent or purchase a fuel pressure gauge. It is simple to hook up to the fuel rail if you trace the fuel pressure regulator back you will see a black cap unscrew it and attach the gauge. turn the key to start and check the numbers. should be around 42psi
i would also check that you did not disrupt the ignition coil or module connections while you changed the regulator
