so my 88 trans am wont stay running.i have a 350 with a carb intake and headers.now the car starts idles fine for about 30 secs to a min then it just shuts off i thought it might be a carb problem so i put another edelebrock on it yesterday and it runs smoothers but still just dies.i dont have a clue what could be causing it. what questions should i be asking my self to track down the problem i have?im at a loss. can some one please help me i just spent so much money on this car and it is killing me that i cant drive it yet.where do i go from here?

 

When it dies, check for spark.
Does it have a mech. fuel pump or a electric one? You need to be getting 5psi to the carb.

 

x fire after banging my head in the side if my house trying to figure out what was going on i hooked up my timing light and it just bounced all over the place i pulled the external coil style dist and put a hei in it solved the problem right away.now all thats left is to go over every thing and she will be ready.
